Thank you for participating! The item is a saddle riding stirrup, bronze or brass.
A hot plate of some kind?
Looks like a stirrup
I’ll go with stirrup. @Hookman you always have the most creative input, and this week’s poem is simply delightful. Thanks!
This looks like it could be a boot jack.
Don’t know what it is, but I like the whimsical shape. So, maybe it’s a headrest, from a circus act, to be put upside down on the saddle horn for the lady in a sequined leotard to secure her head as she rides the horse around the ring.
A letterpress, bindery tool? (Husband’s guess…) I said above an early tattoo iron for humans….
I believe this may have been a very early tattoo iron (for humans) OUCH!!
I’m gonna guess a branding iron for animals. It’s too weird to be a masher, and that handle seems in the way for most other things.
PS – Thanks to the Dr. Seuss B-day, mystery item poem writer – that was wonderful! 🙂
A stirrup
It’s a cookie press.
It’s a grip for stress.
Whatever it is,
It’s quite a mess.
It’s a burger stamper.
It’s a fire box tamper.
I’m not quite sure,
Does it fit on a camper?
A stirrup, a trivet, a bootjack or two.
I’m not quite sure, well,
What about you?
Is it a pusher
For squeezing out juice?
Or is it a puzzle
From Dr. Seuss ?
What ever it is, well
Maybe it’s not.
‘Cause now I’ve given you
My best thot !!
Must be a stirrup not a boot jack.
A branding iron
It looks like a stirrup to me, possibly from a side saddle?
A masher, but for what? Looks too sturdy for potatoes.
Looks like a buggy step or sleigh step/scrapper
I’ll go with stirrup
I say its a bacon press used to keep the meat from curling while cooking.
Sure looks like a boot jack, but just possibly a carriage step.
If not a “boot jack”, I’ll go along with the stirrup.
It looks like a “boot jack” to me. You put one foot on the flat part to hold it down and your boot heel on the high part to pull it off.
Maybe a potato masher?
It looks like an antique boot scraper.
It could be a triviet they were used to put hot dishes on or over a burner to keep direct heat off
It is a stirrup from a saddle
Maybe a device for making fried pastries by dipping in batter and putting in hot oil?
