Eames molded plywood designs from the 1940s are being reproduced for today’s collectors. The MoMA Collection, available to members of New York’s Museum of Modern Art and to the public, includes the Eames LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) designed in 1946. The five-ply hardwood chair is priced $881 for members and $979 for nonmembers. You can also buy a miniature of the “Eames elephant” sculpture. The little plywood elephant, 2 1/2 inches high by 5 inches long, mimics two larger prototypes created by Ray and Charles Eames in 1945. Made for the Vitra Design Museum of Germany, the new miniature sells for $203 to members and $225 to nonmembers.
