Did you ever get a gift and never opened it? Most of us can’t resist ripping through wrapping and packaging to get to something shiny and new. A lucky recipient of the one of very first iPhones, introduced in 2007 for $599, just sold her unopened iPhone for 100 times its original value in an LCG Auction house sale on February 19. The New Jersey owner, a cosmetic tattoo artist, had a cell phone plan with Verizon which didn’t include iPhones, so she just put the phone into a drawer. She kept it squirreled away for all these years, never opening it. She contacted the auction house in October after hearing that another first-generation iPhone sold for $40,000. You could say that she finally answered the call.
