Chatty Cathy Doll

The original 1959 Chatty Cathy doll “spoke” 11 phrases. A different record of 11 phrases was made in 1961. In 1962, its record included 18 phrases. All three versions included “I love you.” The first Chatty Cathy had blond hair and blue eyes. Dolls with brown hair were first made in 1962. African-American Chatty Cathy dolls and dolls that spoke foreign languages were also made later. Chatty Cathy dolls were not made after 1965. Mattel made a reproduction of the 1960 Chatty Cathy for holiday sales in 1999.
