Sand in a bottle auctioned for a record $72,000 at an Eldred’s auction, July 2015. Andrew Clemens, sand bottle artist, pictured a ship, eagle, American flag, six different border bands and the name, Clara Schaum, in colored sand. The 1887 bottle was estimated at only $12,000 to $15,000. The Iowa Historical Society has had Clemens’ bottles for years. They are made from compressed natural sand, no glue. A few modern craftsmen make similar sand bottles. A picture of a Clemens' bottle was in “Spinning Wheel” magazine in 1965, rekindling interest in sand bottles. But the high prices for these unique bottles started in 2002, when one was rediscovered at the Antiques Roadshow.

The 1985 Chicago Bears Super Bowl XX Championship ring owned by William “Refrigerator” Perry sold for the super price of $203,150 at the National Sports Collectors auction. It was conducted by Heritage in Chicago on July 30 and 31, 2015. The ring, about a super size 25, is the largest Super Bowl ring ever made.
