Are you a collector who loves to dance? Or maybe loves to watch other people dance? Fall is the time when dance companies prepare for their performance seasons, dance students are back to their lessons and social dance groups are forming. Enthusiasts are preparing for National Ballroom Dance Week, Sept. 19 to 28. Whether your favorite is ballet, ballroom, tap, hip hop, swing, salsa, ethnic, hula, square or belly dancing, there is plenty of dance-related memorabilia available at auctions, shows, flea markets and house sales.

Find magazines, costumes, tutus, worn-out toe shoes (sometimes signed by the dancers who wore them), dance music, figurines, dolls and jewelry from all over the world. They span dancing styles from classical to modern, from All That Jazz to Riverdance. Tickets, posters, photographs and programs from performances are also popular with dance enthusiasts and ephemera collectors and are good collectibles for aspiring dancers just beginning to learn about dance history.

A dance fan with a sense of humor must have pirouetted home this summer after paying $7,200 for this dancer’s legs table at Northeast Auctions in Portsmouth, N.H. It’s 30 inches high, has a parquetry top and base and is a toe-tapping addition to any room.

And don’t forget a glitter disco ball — $25 to $60 in online shops!
