New dresses are very much in 1950s and ’60s styles, reproductions of midcentury furniture are popular and many old glass patterns are being copied. Designers of high-heeled shoes are creating fantasies—shoes with heels that look like a lipstick tube or flames, according to the Financial Times. I had a pair of shoes with heels made of Wedgwood blue and white jasperware in 1958 (a later version was made in 1977). They’re now in a museum’s costume collection.
