You should not carry anything with your Social Security number on it in your wallet. So make sure your driver’s license and health insurance card do not include your Social Security number. Either could be stolen and help a thief steal your identity. Our doctor’s office started asking patients for original Medicare or health insurance cards every time they check in–even if they’re regular patients.

Don’t worry about electric cords that don’t match your decor. Don’t hide them under a rug, don’t staple a cord to a wall or floor, don’t wrap the cord with tape of any kind and don’t paint the cord.
