The beveled glass in an antique mirror can be resilvered. It can also be rebacked. The silver and paint are taken off the old glass and a new piece of plate glass is put behind it. This makes a heavier mirror, but the mirror looks like the original. To test for rebacking, put your finger against the front of the glass. If the finger tip reflection appears to be more than 3/8 inch “into” the glass, it was probably rebacked.

Never try to clean a doll with polish or wax. It will put a layer of wax on the surface making it almost impossible to repaint the doll’s face.
