Always test an art pottery vase before you put it on a table. Fill it with water for 24 hours and check for seepage. Our Red Wing vase was just the right shape for a special flower arrangement. But we learned the hard way that the glaze was not perfect. The water slowly leaked into the turquoise glaze and left a white salt-like deposit on the outside of the vase. It also left a white ring on the table.

Can’t hook the catch on your bracelet? Tape one end of the bracelet to your wrist, then close the catch.

Never leave batteries in old toys or robots. They will leak eventually and harm the toy.

Most burglaries take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., when houses are empty. Don’t go out during the day without locking your doors and windows.
