To clean your crystal chandelier, use white cotton gloves and window cleaner. Dampen one glove, wipe the crystals one at a time, first with the damp glove, then the dry glove. Dry the metal chandelier frame after cleaning the crystals. (House & Garden magazine)

If old magazines or books or even stuffed toys smell musty, put them in a plastic bag with some kitty litter. Be sure to get the inexpensive brands that are just clay litter with no scents or clumping additives. Leave the bag closed for at least a week. Repeat with new litter if necessary.

Be sure that any restorer, refinisher, or upholsterer working on your antique is insured and bonded.
