Dust Christmas ornaments after removing them from the tree. Do not store them with the dust. Wrap each ornament individually in tissue paper, not newspaper.

Be careful removing a light bulb from an old lamp with a glass shade. The Tiffany lily-shaped shades and others are made so that the shade is held in place by a screw-in bulb.

Don’t store vintage fabrics in plastic garment bags or cleaner’s bags. Get cloth garment bags. Use a padded hanger, not a metal or wood one. Be sure the fabrics are not exposed to high humidity or sunlight.

Battery-operated toys should be run regularly to keep the parts working. Remove batteries when storing the toy.
