Never polish Arts and Crafts copper or pewter. Even if the green patina on a piece of Heintz Art is damaged, it is better than a cleaned piece. Original finish is important.

The old cord on a vintage phone adds value. Green cords are best. Other old forms are twisted cords, brown cords or patterned cords called “rattlesnakes.”

Washing your hands is good for your health and that of your collections. Grease and dirt can stain pieces and permanently lower value. You can’t always wash your hands in the middle of a flea market, but you can take wipes along.

Big dogs seem scary, but small dogs bark more. It’s the bark that discourages a burglar.
