Be careful when packing and moving an old painting. The packing material should not touch the painting surface. Bubble wrap protects the painting from moisture and bumps, but bubbles could make a mark on the paint. Use acid-free paper over the painting, and bubble wrap the corners of the frame. Never keep a painting in the hot or cold trunk of a car. Warm up or cool the car and wrap the painting loosely in a towel or blanket if it is moving a short distance. Try to keep it in a vertical position.

If you have an old carving set and the steel sharpener is stained, do not worry. It will still work, and it’s safe to use with knives that touch food.
