Tea Caddies
Eighteenth- and early 19th-century tea caddies were sometimes made of wood. Some were shaped like apples or pears. These have been reproduced. The old ones may have cracks because wood shrinks with age. They should have a plug in the middle of the bottom and most have a lock, too.

I agree, with Maggiesue, I also find it frustrating when there is no photo to go with a description of an item. I know many things are easily recognized in the antique world, but some are a bit more obscure.
