How to determine the age of a jug

The handle on a nineteenth century glass jug is a clue to the jug’s age. Before 1860 the handles were applied at the top first, then drawn down toward the bottom, stuck to the body of the pitcher and curled upward. About 1860 handles were applied at the bottom first, creating a thick blob, then drawn to the top and affixed to the edge.
