Don’t put an old clock that has to be wound near a heat or air-conditioning duct. The air will dry out the oil used in the clock. Fireplaces and wood-burning stoves also will dry the works and the clock will not keep correct time–or it could stop.

Never use any home style oils on your clocks, they will not work. You will need a good clock oil in order to avoid further problems and added expense.
