Food Press

A subscriber wrote to identify the food press shown in our November 2012 Collector’s Gallery. We suggested that the homemade press was used to make juice from softened fruit or vegetables. Our subscriber, “Harry,” thinks it’s a sausage stuffer. He goes on: “Empty sausage casings were fed onto the tube on the side of the can and loose sausage, placed in the can, was forced through the tube and into the casings when pressure was applied to the plunger via the long wooden handle.”
