Very old Butter Mold? Maple Sugar Mold?

This is old, 1890's. My husband is an antique bottle digger and found it on a dig. This is the third one he has found. I have seen it on WorthPoint as a Maple Sugar Mold and on Pinterest as a Butter Mold....
