The Mark is for Mueck-Carey Company that was in operations 1940-1950’s in New York. It was believed to have been absorbed by Towle.
The number would be the company’s product identification number.

Perhaps U.S. !! Does not have the necessary hallmarks for the UK !! I am looking but have not found anything yet !!
