Hello, I am new to this forum, I hope you can help me!
I have a Capodimonte style ‘Tramp on a Bench’, but the only mark I can find is a ‘V’ on the base. I understand that lots of copies were made, but why would they not bother to put a mark on it? The detail is very good.
Any information would be appreciated.

You asked why it isn`t marked !! Most likely because it is probably not Capodimonte !! Capodimonte is just a region in Italy,, not a brand name of any sort !! There are many potteries and studios that work in the region and any of them are allowed to use the Crown N mark !! That tells you where it was made,, not by which factory !! Over the years Capodimonte developed a unique style and is known for quality !! Eventually others started to use similar scenarios and make figurines and other items that replicate those made in Capodimonte just to cash in on its popularity !! Most things made in that region will have some form of the Crown N mark stamped on the bottom !!
Friedrich will have more information when he is online !! He is an expert on things like this !!

It’s not very easy to photograph, it’s just a ‘V’ scratched into the plaster.
