I purchased a monk stein a few years ago and have been unable to find out anything about him. He is just darling! I at first thought there was no maker’s mark, but I am now thinking that the monogram on the stein the monk is holding may be a maker’s mark. The monogram looks like an H with an S in the middle of the crossbar on the H and an I in the middle of the S. There also appears something like a lightbulb shape above the I. I will try to up-load pics. The stein is .5L and is egg shaped, with the monk etched then hand painted. The lid is inlaid, and the point of the egg shape is the lid that is his head/face etched and painted on. The only mark on the bottom of the stein is “GERMANY” and there are numbers, although I have had trouble making out exactly what the numbers are. I understand those are often mold numbers, etc. If anyone can tell me anything, I would greatly appreciate it!
