Very correct for that period !! I suspect that it is not gold because of the tarnish but would be wise to have a jeweler look at it !! Stone could be amethyst or just colored glass !! Jeweler could tell you about it !! Just make sure jeweler is a trusted one !! Although gold prices have dropped recently !!
