IS THIS A ANDRE BOURGAULT CARVING?
Recently on a car boot sale I bought a small wooden figurine. It looks similar to Andre Bourgault sculptures.
Can anyone help to identify the artist?
Second one is a metal sculpture of a gavroche? Some markings at the back but I was not able to find the answer.
Please help.

Bourgault, The Family Members

Is anything on the bottom ?? Would not be his and the student carvings are marked as such !! The link says that one of the family members had a similar name to what is on yours !! Looks like M Gil !! The family member was a sculptor that used the name Gils !! A shortened version of his name !! This may be a study for a sculpture ,, or another persons carving !! May not have anything in common with the Bourgault family !! Folk artisits or carvers are not a well known group !!

Hi,
Thank you very much for your response. It looked like the Bourgault, very similar but now I will try to research his family, just for my own curiosity.
Kind regards

Hope it turns out to be a good one !!

Apparently there were three brothers making those figurines, so maybe it is one of them.
I need to find out their signatures too.
Would you have any idea about the metal sculpture?

Gilles Bourgault. ‘Gils’ (1937-2005) Sculptor. Son of Jean-Julien Bourgault

This is the one I was referring to,, also called Gil or Gils !! I have no idea about Canadian folk artists !! I do know that sculptors often make a small study of a work before doing a large one !! Helps prevent accidents and wasted bronze or whatever the work was made in !! Its like a pattern for them to follow !!

Hi,
Thank you very much for that information. I thought it was one of the brothers. Very similar work to his father. It is difficult to tell the difference and probably that is why his initials.
Thank you very much once again.
