Lightning Rod

Lightning rods and lightning rod balls are collected. The glass balls were at the center of the rod that was attached to the roof of a house or barn to avoid lightning damage. The lightning rod has been in use since the 1700s, when Benjamin Franklin conducted his famous kite experiment. Collectors prefer examples made before 1940.
