Norse Pottery Company started in Edgerton, Wisconsin, in 1903. In 1904 the company moved to Rockford, Illinois. The company made a black pottery, which resembled early bronze relics of the Scandinavian countries. The firm went out of business in 1913. Norse Pottery Company was started by Thorwald P.A. Simpson and Louis Ipson, potters in Denmark before they were brought to the United States by Pauline Jacobus in 1891.
