Kosta, the oldest Swedish glass factory, was founded in 1742. In 1903, Kosta and Reijmyre, another glass factory, merged but retained their names. Kosta became one of the leaders in Sweden of fine art and tableware. During the 1920s through the 1950s, many pieces of original design were made at the factory. Kosta and Boda merged with Afors in 1964 and created the Afors Group in 1971. In 1976, the name Kosta Boda was adopted. The company merged with Orrefors in 1990 and is still working.
