“Everything That’s Old Is New Again.” Decorators say it’s new, but putting nature in your home has been popular since Victorian times. Hard-to-grow houseplants especially ferns, aloe, and cactus, are part of many Victorian photographs and paintings. Unusual rocks, especially crystals, shells and fossils, were displayed in cabinets or on shelves. Tree stump tables were used in Western homes and hunting lodges. Today decorators are suggesting even more nature be shown. Fabrics, rugs and wallpaper feature blooming flowers.
