Talk about a “garage sale.” Yes, we know we’re a little late on this one, but it’s such a beautiful car! A rare 1957 BMW 507 Series II Roadster sold for $2.3 in the Bonhams Audrain Concours Auction that took place in Newport, Rhode Island, on September 30, 2022. The car, a favorite of celebrities like Elvis Presley and even King Constantine II, was sold by a family member whose father bought it in 1979, drove it into a Philadelphia garage — called a “shed” by Bonhams — and only occasionally started it up. The family is reported to have a “fleet” of 507 Series BMWs. This BMW was repainted in Pontiac Bright Blue Metallic in the early 1970s and repainted in Pontiac Bright Blue Metallic. The original leather interior has what Bonhams calls a “lived-in” appearance. Only 252 of 507 series BMWs were produced. In 1957, the 507 retailed at a then-pricey $8,988 in the U.S. and 26,500 marks in Germany, making it one of the most expensive  cars of its day.
