The eccentric American potter George Ohr started out making inexpensive joke pottery sold at county fairs. One of his mugs that you could have purchased for a few dollars at the fair is now worth thousands. Ohr sold miniature potties with fake excrement in the bottom among other unusual items, but our favorite is his puzzle mug. The mug is full of holes and it looks like the liquid would pour down your shirt when you try to drink.
Can you guess how to drink from it without spilling?
To drink, cover the holes in the rim with your fingers and sip from the top of handle. It works like a straw.
The perfect April Fool’s day gift!

In what areas were these pieces sold and how can we tell if they are authentic George Ohr?
I love George Ohr pottery, and I got to visit his museum, right down the street from the beautiful beach in Biloxi MS. Visit if you can, they have a wonderful collection!
