A very rare three-color-cut-to-clear bowl by Dorflinger sold for $65,000 at a Woody Auction in March 2012. The bowl was made with sections of green, cranberry and amethyst glass that was cut to clear. In May, Woody sold a 21-inch-high cut glass Gone with the Wind lamp for $13,500 and a 34-inch-high cut glass Banquet Lamp for $13,000. The catalog said the lamps were all original, including the chimneys, but the chimney glass on both fluoresced at a different color. There were mixed opinions among the auction goers, some of whom wondered if the chimneys were original. Both lamps were bought by bidders in the room who had examined the lamps. It is not unusual to find an auction catalog description with an error, but at Woody’s and other auction houses problems are pointed out before bidding starts. Absentee bidders should ask before bidding if there have been any additions to catalog descriptions.
