Mushroom Mark

Q: I have a piece of jewelry with this mark that looks like a mushroom inside a circle topped with Mickey Mouse ears. Can you tell me something about the maker?

A: This mushroom mark was used by Sam Kramer (1913-1964), a silversmith who opened a shop in Greenwich Village in 1939. He was one of the first silversmiths to make “contemporary” jewelry and is known for his “Surreal” designs.
