Q: This platter and serving dish were my grandmother’s. They are marked “Hill Pottery, Rustic, B & L.” I’d appreciate any information you can give me about them and how much they may be worth now.

A: This mark was used by Burgess & Leigh, which made earthenware at Hill Pottery from about 1867 to 1889. “Rustic” is the name of the pattern, which has a brown, blue, or green transferware design. The mark “Rd. No. 56790” is the English mark that indicates the design was registered in 1886. Value of your grandmother’s platter, $200 to $225; serving dish, $150.

I have a lovely tankard 8 inches in height in the Suez Pattern. Would you be able to place a value on it

one question. why in the world would you want to sell something that belonged to your grandmother, especially if you really loved her? this stuff may only be worth a few hundred dollars, but the sentimental value is priceless
