Pottery & Porcelain Marks- Anchor: Marks in the shape of an anchor were used on pottery and porcelain throughout Europe in the 18th to 21st century. In the 19th century ceramic manufacturers created more elaborate marks with initials, names, objects, or borders surrounding the anchor shape. By the end of the twentieth century the anchors had been given a sleek, modern look.
