Nearly 900 pieces of majolica auctioned in Indiana and are featured in a sale report in Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles January 2017 newsletter. Find pictures and prices of Victorian-era majolica pieces with colorful tin glazes and naturalistic designs that sold from $200 all the way up to $72,000. Kovels’ January 2017 issue spotlights midcentury adjustable table lamps that sold in Chicago. Most sold for over $1,000, but prices were strongest for lamps by recognized 1950s and ’60s Italian and American designers and manufacturers that were the inspiration for today’s inexpensive reading lamps. And jewelry made by twentieth century American Indian craftsmen sold at auction in Ohio. See pictures of some of the moderately-priced Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and Santo Domingo-made necklaces and bracelets of silver, turquoise and other stones in Kovels’ January newsletter.

Toy buses were a hit at a New Jersey sale, where prices zoomed to more than $5,500 for a 1920s cast iron yellow coach bus by Arcade Manufacturing Co. of Illinois. This bus, as well as other examples like the Kenton Hardware double decker bus and the Arcade “City of Detroit Automotive Div.” bus that both topped $1,000, are pictured in Kovels’ January 2017 newsletter. And a New Jersey sale included dozens of pot lids from a single owner’s collection. Pot lids are round ceramic containers with transfer-decorated lids used in the mid to late 1800s to hold all sorts of medicines, foods and cosmetics. The top pot lid, sold for $1,380, had a purple image of the U.S. Capitol building with the company’s name, Worsley Wholesale Perfumer of Philadelphia. Find this and other pot lids in Kovels’  latest issue.

And more than 70 antiques and collectibles are listed in the Buyer’s Price Guide.
