This flag-draped horse is part of the original Cleveland Euclid Beach Carousel. The working carousel is being restored. It will be in a glass “bubble” ready for riders in the fall of 2013. The 52 horses and two chariots were made by The Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1910. Each horse has its own drapery, saddles, flowers, figures, and emblems, the work of the skilled craftsmen who carved and painted them.

I loved riding this carousel but the Racing Derby was much more exciting!
Here in Central Bucks (PA), we’re exceptionally fortunate to have two restored and functioning carousels nearby: one in Wrightstown’s Carousel Village on Rt. 413, and one next to Lahaska’s Peddlers’ Village on Rt. 263.
Even we big folks enjoy the occasional nostalgic ride!
