Don’t put wooden cutting boards, good china with added overglaze decoration like gold trim, gold plated “silverware,” cast iron pans and anything repaired with glue in the dishwasher. The heat can cause damage.

Not just the heat! The detergents will wash off gold trim, and remove the seasonings on cast iron and cause it to rust. Don’t put wood handled knives in, either. I shudder when I see people do that. I guess they just go get new ones when those start looking bad. Such a waste of money and so needless, if only they gave a little care and thought.
