The 700-pound Dumbo, a car from Disneyland’s Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, sold for $483,000 at a Van Eaton Galleries auction in California. It had been in the home of Richard Kraft, a Hollywood agent and avid Disney collector, for many years. The sale of Kraft’s 900-item Disney collection included posters, props, signs, trash cans and other amazing things from the Disney theme park. Jose, the “talking” parrot from the Enchanted Tiki Room that was kept in Kraft’s son’s bedroom brought $425,500. An original gondola from the 1950’s Skyway ride sold for $621,000, setting a new auction record for a Disneyland vehicle. It had been estimated at only $7,000 to $9,000. The auction raised over $8.3 million, with much going to charity. See more pictures and details in our December 2018 Kovels On Antiques & Collectibles print newsletter.
