Q: I found this piece on my Mom’s china cabinet. It says “Adams, Member of the Wedgwood Group” in the center of the mark and “Real English Ironstone, Micratex, Est. 1657, England” around the border. I’m wondering if it’s worth anything.

A: William Adams and Sons was founded in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, in 1769. A pottery was established at Tunstall in 1657 by other members of the Adams family. “Micratex” is Adams’ trade name for its ironstone with an extra strong body, first used in 1963. The company became part of the Wedgwood Group in 1966. The name “Adams” was used on various items through 1998. The words “Member of the Wedgwood Group” in the mark on your mother’s coffeepot indicates it was made no earlier than 1966. This teapot is the “Baltic” pattern, made between 1969 and 1983. It was made in three sizes: 5-cup, 6-cup and a 2-cup mini version. An earlier version of Baltic with cream ground was also made. Retail price of your coffeepot, $50 to $60.
