Q: Will you please help me with this? My mom passed away recently, we found two figurines with this mark on them. Not sure where they came from and she never really said.

A: The figurines were made by the Kister porcelain factory in Scheibe-Alsbach, Thuringia, Germany. This mark was used from 1925 to 1972. A porcelain factory was started in Scheibe-Alsbach in 1835. After several changes in ownership, August Wilhelm Fridolin Kister took over the factory in 1863. The factory became Porzellanmanufaktur Kister K.G. Scheibe-Alsbach in 1962 when the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) put the factory under state supervision. The factory was nationalized in 1972 and became V.E.B. Porzellanmanufaktur Scheibe-Alsbach. The company is still in business, now as Porzellanmanufaktur Scheibe-Alsbach in Rudolstadt, Germany.
