Jackfield ware was originally a black glazed pottery made in Jackfield, England, from 1750 to 1775. Early examples of Jackfield ware had Jacobite inscriptions and were popularized by Thomas Wheldon. A yellow glazed ware has also been called Jackfield ware. Most of the pieces referred to as Jackfield today are black-glazed, red-clay wares made at the Jackfield Pottery in Shropshire, England, in Victorian times.
