Some of the jewelry owned by the Duchess of Windsor (Wallis Simpson) was sold at Sotheby's London on November 30. Our favorite piece is her flamingo pin made of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. It sold for $2.7 million.

The buyer is apparently as vapid a person as was the Duchess of Windsor herself.
Yes... what had she and that quitter and former King Edward ever done for their country other than serving for many years as a major embarassment to England?

Some people have more money than sense. This pin is exquisite in design, made of precious materials, and holds sentimental value to collectors -- but it is not the only piece of Wallis Windsor's jewelry or other personal effects that exists today.

Shame on all who bid so very high instead of doing good works with that much money. Everyone should think these people shallow and foolish -- they leave no good mark on the world and should not be rewarded with praise or regard for such behavior.

I have a book given to me by my aunt which was autographed by Wallis Windsor.
