Works by famous artists bring high prices as examples of great design. A 1940s twisted silver wire necklace by Alexander Calder (1898-1976) sold for $267,750 at a Christie's sale in September 2013. Calder, famous for his mobiles, created his own style of jewelry and never soldered pieces of metal. Instead, he bent or riveted pieces together.

This is fantastic! I am a wire sculpted jewelry artist and to see this necklace sell for so much brings the value of my pieces up. I would love to share this news to other wire jewelry artists if you give the ok.
