Don't put an old clock that has to be wound near a heat or air-conditioning duct. The air will dry out the oil used in the clock. Fireplaces and wood-burning stoves also will dry the works and the clock will not keep correct time--or it could stop.

Never use any home style oils on your clocks, they will not work. You will need a good clock oil in order to avoid further problems and added expense.
