Don’t worry about electric cords that don’t match your decor. Don’t hide them under a rug, don’t staple a cord to a wall or floor, don’t wrap the cord with tape of any kind, and don’t paint the cord. Any of these actions turns the cord into a fire hazard. There are cord covers available.

#1 care and feeding of vintage/antique electric cordspweakley 2011-01-26 18:11
I have a number of old lamps, some of them with fabric wrapped cords. Does anyone know when these kind of cords were used. These cords are all in good shape, so I am wondering how best to take care of them so that they do not present an electrical hazard.
