The Wonder of American Toys, 1920-1950 by Charles Dee Sharp (Collectors Press, PO Box 230986, Portland, OR 97281, c2002, $49.95, 336 pages) includes more than 770 pictures and captions that tell the history of the toys and the times. Revisit the comics, movies, cars, planes, sports, and events of years past through the toys. Casual collectors can look at the pictures. Serious collectors will want to read each caption carefully for information about the history, construction, and maker of the toy.
