Q. Can you give me information on this Disney rug. It shows Snow White with the Seven Dwarfs crossing a log bridge. It is soft and velvety, and there is a label stapled on the back that says "Made in Italy." It measures about 22 by 40 inches. Can you give me a clue as to age and value?
A. Small Disney rugs and tapestries have been made since 1935. Most velvety ones are early. Some were made in Italy, some in Belgium, and others by various licensees in the United States. Rugs like yours sell in the $100 to $300 range.
Letters from readers help us keep track of the changing world of antiques and collectibles. We wish we could answer all questions individually, but that just isn’t possible. We do read every letter, but only a limited number of questions of general interest are answered. Values given are average for the type of antique, not a specific appraisal. No questions about coins, stamps, books or oil paintings, please. Send written questions to P.O. Box 22200, Beachwood, OH 44122.
