Rocking Horses
When the first rocking horse was produced is not known. Many antiques dealers assume the rocking horse appeared around 1780, the time of the first rocking chair. Rockers on cradles had been known for centuries, and why it took so long for rockers to get on chairs or horses is a mystery. Wooden rocking horses were being made in American homes by 1800.
