The Steuben Glassworks was founded in Corning, New York, in 1903 by Frederick Carder (1863–1963) and Thomas Hawkes (1846–1913). The company’s glassware included Cluthra, Cintra, Verre de Soie, and other styles handmade in a variety of colors. Steuben’s Aurene, a velvety iridescent glass, remains the most popular of its products.
