Victorian (1840-1900)
The heavy, square furniture of the Empire period was redesigned as the Victorian era arrived. Very ornate furniture appeared during the years from 1840 to 1900, a period that we now call “Victorian.” The Victorian designer continued with the Empire theory that comfort was of little importance.
